The oil on copper by Claude-Joseph Vernet was sold 787.500 euros ; this is a record for a quite small (40 x 47,5 cm) painting by this artist.
The oil on canvas by Jean-François DOYEN (1726 – 1806) represents Louis XIV receiving the honnors of the knights after being crowned in Reims. This is probably a modello for a painting that was included in the decoration of the church of the Grands Augustins in Paris, and that is now located in the Museum of the Château de Versailles (RF 2313). Our painting was sold 118.750 euros, which is an absolute record for this artist.
